Prior to starting Quikr, Pranay set up his first company Excellere to build online educational products between 2007 and 2008. Before that, he was at Booz Allen Hamilton as Principal from 2005 to 2007 and at PwC Consulting/ IBM as Associate Partner from 2002 to 2005. He also worked at Walker Digital as Business Head from 2000 to 2001 and at Mitchell Madison Group as Engagement Manager from 1997 to 2000.

Born in 1973, Pranay, age 50, did his schooling from a small town of Rajasthan called Dariba. His father was employed with a lead and zinc mining industry there. Since very young age, Chulet has been overcoming the odds in his life. An IITian in Chemical Engineering, he did not have a science teacher in class 10 in his school. The town also lacked coaching centers. But the resolute Pranay studied all by himself by burning the candle at both ends. Pranay is married to Tina Goyal Chulet. The couple has one daughter. Pranay’s wife Tina is an entrepreneur too as she independently runs her own mobile-based dating company Waltzz.
On another note, Pranay Chulet got the idea of starting Quikr from his film making experience in New York. As he is a movie fan, he went to the New York Film Academy to learn the art of film making and ended up creating a feature film that could be turned into a game. For his film, he used Craigslist, right from for auditioning actors to recruiting his cast and crew, and finding software programmers to renting an apartment there.
