Jean-Laurent completed higher studies from the École des Mines and École Polytechnique. His first job was in civil services, where he was appointed as Senior Officer and promoted to Technical Advisor to serve the industry and trade departments for the French government. He came to BNP family in 1993 as senior investment banker and in four years, he started heading the strategy and development part. He also helped BNP and Paribas integrate smoothly after their merger in 2000.
