Swiggy Lays Off 1100 Employees

After Zomato, Swiggy has announced that it will part ways with 1100 employees working in various functions at different grades. The company claimed it was “the hardest and longest deliberated decision” that the management had made in recent times.

The laid off employees are slated to receive several benefits depending on their profile and tenure with Swiggy. The identified benefits include financial support, equity, healthcare and wellness, career transition support, connectivity support, learning support, and relocation support.

The lay offs are in addition to other steps that the company has taken to build a leaner organization and to reduce costs for mitigating risks associated with the current COVID 19-related uncertainties. The Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety shared the details over an email he sent to the employees, which later was published on the company blog.
